Unmanned Aerial Vehicles – The Story
There is certainly something very magical about being able to fly a machine high in the sky using controls in your hands on the ground. This little flying machine brings back what its camera sees from above. Direct it to where you want it to go. Go beyond your physical senses, flying with the machine, seeing what it sees, and going where it goes, floating through the sky. That is a drone’s magic.
These flying machines are also called UAVs (Unmanned aerial vehicles) or UAS (Unmanned aerial systems). When you say the word ‘drone’, most people will think about military-drones. But this increasingly affordable, easy to use technology is starting to be used in many positive ways. Like to deliver healthcare to remote areas, to herd sheep, to monitor endangered species, and help manage natural disasters. Drones are frequently used to film areas that would be very difficult to get too.
I set this site up to help me document my findings on drones. This site is currently under construction, but do book mark it if you are interested in this topic because we will be expanding the site very quickly with science, news, articles and thoughts on drones.
